The Dreaming in The Labyrinth

 

-This project was a task set by a friend. He asked me “What set list would I create for a Kate Bush concert and how would they tie in like a story just as "The Ninth wave" did on Before The Dawn”.

 

I am a gamer and my role-playing mind went into overdrive with this one. So this is a creative outlook on how I would create a tour for Kate Bush. The central character being "Cathy": her alter ego. The government wanting to capture this massively creative force and use it as a weapon of mind control "Cathy" uses her creative power to bend at her will, the environment around her for her own protective purpose and uses it to escape into an alternate reality.  She creates a Dreaming, her chance to escape, meandering through The Labyrinth of her creations of song, imagery and creativity.

 

In this tour Kate would use high powered lasers, smoke & mirrors, 4K 3D projection mapping, interchangeable screens, a revolving stage and a moving floor. The stage set around her would change as she sang scenes, images - sets and video project both onto the stage and into the theatre, images to create a completely immersive experience. The Midas Project and The Creators Project would work closely with her in making this happen. Not only that but Kate would hire a magician to teach her the greatest trick of all, to disappear live on stage in front of the audience mid transition between two songs, something which has not been done before and would surely wow any audience attendees.

 

One seat would be taken up by the "Oculus Rift" - a new technology that allows users to wear a headset at home and with motion tracking are placed into the theatre as if they were there - which means if you did not get a ticket for a seat, you could buy an "Oculus Rift" experience and view through the headset a virtual 4k immersive experience in sound and vision. This means the new experience would be a ground breaking way of reaching audiences all around the globe, “The Oculus Rift Experience” would be like having your very own front seat at a show, while being at home. Something which is very high tech would be super high quality, and it of course already available for gamers.

 

While some may find this completely out of reach or the realm of any form of reality, it is of course a question posed to me, and my mind, and this was the result - "The Dreaming in The Labyrinth" is still a work in progress and I welcome all comments and suggestions: If you find something I may be able to add or use, feel free to message me with ideas. I am completely open to all.

 

The project is still under construction. But it is available to view in its current state in the form of a website to best illustrate my idea and concept. Kate being a fan of concept's and creativity as a whole - I felt I would try and do my best to stay within this boundary that is not a boundary.

 

The website consists of:

 

An instruction on how the site should be viewed

The intro Dialogues - ACT 1 & ACT 2

Audio file to be played while reading each page 

Pages dedicated to each song with descriptive narratives

(All this amounts to what I call "The Digital Tour Program")

(including a download link for the podcast)

Any artwork created/manipulated by me and various links to resources used or found such as

And links to video creations I have made.
